If one ship in your fleet had lost its warp drive, just go to it and scrap instantly, unless its really near a construction ship. Early game keep your tax as low as possible, you can cover a net loss by the bonuses that you get from building civilian ships. This heavily disuades pirates from attacking them and saves you a lot of greif and money as you dont really have to pay the pirates anymore. This gives you a HUGE advantage as you get hyperdrives years and years before anyone else and it gives you an early game working economy.ĮCONOMY: Once you can build mining stations sufficiently big enough I usually put around 9 miners and 3 luxury miners on them, 10 sheilds, 4-5 fighter bays and 10 blasters. When youve got all your basic energy stuff like ptoton thrusters, better vectoring, better powerplant and a few levels of counstruction size, only then do I build another research station somewere else with a bonus (same thing again 25 of whatever I want to research) then just redesign your space station to have 0 labs in it then retrofit. for example, pre warp I tend to design my medium station to have only energy labs in it (around 20-25 is usually about right) and build a single research station with 1 lab in it just so you get the event that gives you a scientist that you can then transfer to your station.
